There’s something about intimate nuptials which is… reflective. There’s very little in the way of distraction- you’re not thinking about the guests (there were a total of four at this wedding), not wondering if the caterers brought enough food, not thinking about the reception and if people will enjoy the music. There’s just these few moments, and you and your spouse-to-be filling them. And the pre-vow jitters? Yeah, they’re there of course. But that’s the thing- you get to explore those perhaps a bit more deeply because it’s harder to put your mind elsewhere. And this freedom for reflection- others get to appreciate it too. From a photographer’s perspective, it allows one to consider what you’re really doing here, at this place and at this time where two individuals are making a promise to each other. And you’ve been invited to witness it and to document it, to issue a kind of immortality to who they were on this day, and will always be.
